The significance of the 1800's includes a range of events which have ultimately shaped our lives still to this day. Reading the used books from this era brings a vivid glimpse into the ways in which people thought and this can provide a better understanding of the actual historical events of those days. We have found many Civil War era antique bibles at various estate auctions over the years and the variety of them is truly impressive. It never ceases to be an amazing experience yet they are quite rare and much harder to find for sale than they used to be yet here we include some fine examples. The page length is usually several hundred pages and when a book is this old there is often some condition concerns. These may be yellowing of the pages or scuffs on the cover (often leather) yet many only have the smallest amount of signs of wear and usage. The out of print book editions are common among the Civil War bibles as many publishers have long since ceased to exist which also brings some degree of interest to collectors. The size of these old bibles will also vary as many of them were small enough to be carried during the war within a soldier's uniform pockets. These are wonderful examples of this time period and the value of these old books will be heavily dependent upon their overall condition. Overall these can be wonderful display books which you don not have to be a collector of used books to appreciate.
